Roastery
We love good coffee and an eco-conscious way of thinking. That is how the plan was born to open a roastery in cosy Karlova, Tartu, serving coffee that is always delicious, fresh and organic.
We want to demystify the whole roasting process. That is why we have placed our proud, steam-locomotive-looking roasting machine, a 12-kilogram Probat, right in the café, where everyone can take a good look at it while enjoying their coffee.
The roastery shares its “room” with a cosy café, where we work every day to make sure that each cup served to our guests is skilfully prepared and tastes great. We want a flawless cappuccino to be as easy to find for a Karlova local as it is for a Londoner.
The flavour of the coffee served in the café is shaped by the coffee grower, the roaster and the barista alike. At Karlova Kohv we believe that close and meaningful cooperation between these three is necessary and unavoidable if the goal is to bring out the full potential of the coffee.
We work on a direct trade model, where the farmer is paid a better and fairer price for better quality. One day, the quality of life and standard of living of a Honduran coffee grower could be the same as that of an Alsace vineyard owner today.
